We met several times with local fishermen in Port Tibot Mariani. As they talked about their difficulties at sea, they explained that the lack of motor navigation was the number one barrier to better catches; simply, if they aren’t able to reach the fish they can’t catch them.

We were invited to sail on Jean Claude Lundi’s handmade boat where we saw the need first hand and realized that we could help these fishermen by providing small outboard engines and other basic equipment. These much needed items can bring significant improvement to the community through greater profits, as well as lightening the work load tremendously.

The fishermen of Port Tibot Mariani are committed to supporting their wives, families and community, and Haiti 155 is committed to supporting the fisherman by donating 10 small engines to help their goal and to assist in the community’s overall improvement.
