Blue Marble Dreams & Haiti 155

Haiti 155 has joined forces with fellow Brooklyn nonprofit, Blue Marble Dreams,  to build Bel Rev, Haiti’s most spectacular ice cream shop.  Bel Rev will employ local women, support Haitian farmers and serve to lift the spirit and the economy of the Port-au-Prince community.

ABOUT BLUE MARBLE DREAMS
Blue Marble Dreams is the unique social venture of NYC’s beloved Blue Marble Ice Cream. Their mission is to create opportunities for joy and prosperity through the unlikely medium of ice cream.  They develop entrepreneurial possibilities with women in areas recovering from conflict, natural disaster or other large-scale adversities with the audacious belief that ice cream can help lift both the spirit and economy of a community.

Through their first project, they partnered with a group of women in Butare, Rwanda to open Inzozi Nziza (Sweet Dreams), the community’s first-ever ice cream shop. Sweet Dreams’ doors opened in June 2010.  This special shop brought together Rwandan women from both sides of the 1994 genocide and has equipped them with training, jobs and a sustainable income. It also supports local farmers and producers, contributes to the local economy and provides the the Butare community with a safe, happy place to gather, indulge and heal.
